squirrel grounds

Went up to the hay fields yesterday to shoot squirrels. Shot 311 rounds through my .223, .220 Swift AI and .243, missed 39 times. I learned to put the empty brass upside down to count misses from another member here that happens to live nearby. Thanks Bob. Longest was just over 450. Honor to all veterans.

That's a good idea..I think there would be days where I would have more brass upside down then I would like to admit... ::) ;D I'll also admit that I have been having more trouble hittin the little buggers in the swirling, gusting winds this year. >:( I do like the long range challenge though. I have killed a few over the 400 yard mark this year too. Don't know why but it is just more fun to nail them at long range. What really makes me mad is when ya have a squirrel lined up and he moves at the same moment ya pull the trigger. ::) Yes I agree...Honer to all Veterans!

Yes indeed......that's what my crew and I call "Reticle Radar", and for good reason! :)

You spy a fat rat running about out there at the 400 yard marker.....he stops and sits up on his mound in the 'classic pose'. You know the range, you hold over or click up for elevation, note the wind direction and hold accordingly and find the trigger face with your finger as you start the squeeeeeeeze. Right about then, Skippy bails down his hole as the sear breaks! DANG!

Been there, done it myself many times. :P

My brother was visiting a few weeks ago and we were slow-mo videoing some skippy shooting. One segment shows a squirrel posing on his mound in "classic style" as Rick said, only to duck a split second before the dust flew just behind him/her. Sometimes the misses are entertaining too.
