Last week, I was shooting my Springfield Armory EMP 9mm pistol. It has become one of my favorite carry pistols. The pistol is a 1911 format but with a guide rod that has a captive spring. The take-down procedure requires a small plastic piece (supplied) to be placed over the guide rod when the spring is compressed. I took the pistol down, as usual, but did not get the “piece” to stay on the rod under spring pressure. It went flying off into the nether regions of my cluttered workshop!
What’s a guy to do?
I got on Springfield Armory’s website and went to customer service. Admitting my error, I asked to “buy” a couple of the elusive “take-down” pieces.
That same morning, I got an e-mail response from SA, saying, “It has been sent”.
Today, I found an envelope in the mail from SA, with two of the takedown pieces enclosed. The pistol only came with one. This is outstanding customer service, in my opinion. They are likely anticipating that I might lose another one! This was at no charge.
Kudos to Springfield Armory Customer Service.
