Springfield 2020 22LR - rifle

Anybody put their hands on one of these yet, I saw an ad but don’t think they are available yet. Interesting rifle priced right just curious what they are all about.

Shot one that my buddy has with various lapua, match Eley, and sk rifle match. No group better than 1.2 in at 50 yds. Disappointing is an understatement. I’m always excited to see new rimfire bolt guns on the market, but this one falls wayyyyy short in my opinion. Tikka and Bergara are still the king of the “cheap” bolt guns in my book, with some savages not too far behind.

That’s too bad. I have plenty of 22s but I always like trying new ones, I’ll probably pass on these unless they shoot better than that.

Sure, test for accuracy using a moving target stand, genius.

I do that a couple of times per month in matches ;) Those flyers went way above and beyond wind related but I agree Josh need to get either a better target stand or camera tripod or both. Still, he seems to cope pretty well with other rifles he tests

This guy managed to get 1 or 2 decent groups out of a dozen using some high end ammo

Add the CZ to that list

The shooter obviously doesnt realize the importance of correct feeding in a rimfire. Each time he was forcibly closing the bolt with ruger mags , he was either shaving bullet lead or bending the bullet .
Has anyone checked the fired brass or borescoped it ?

I don't know how well the new 2020 will shoot. I don't think these test were done fairly. Each one fired 10 rounds with each ammo, 6 different ammo with no seasoning for each new ammo. No gun will shoot like that. You could see the wind was blowing hard in one of them.
Come on guys do a proper test.

So buy one, and test it yourself then post your results here. Plenty of retailers have them in stock for less than $400

Springfield knows how well the rifle will shoot. 1” or less at 50 yards with quality match-grade ammunition, in the hands of a skilled shooter. Every honest review out there reflects that, it aint what peiople on this forum would like but it is reality.

From every review I have seen if you want CZ and Tikka accuracy, you are not going to be happy with one. I would not use one for hunting or serious target shooting. They are pretty rifles, but they are plinkers. I don't think you will ever see one win at an ARA or NRL match.

I don't expect a $400 rifle to shoot as well as a CZ, Tikka, or Bergara. All of the reviews I have seen on youtube are sad. The gun is not broken in. Some guns need a 200 or 300 rounds before they start to shoot good. My CZ 455 came with a .75" 50yds test group. After 200 rds. it tighten up to 0.3".

You are right, "every honest review" I have seen, does not show well for the 2020. Is that by design or not knowing how to do a review. But they are not honest. None of them seasoned the barrel for each brand of ammo. Who does that? Does anyone shoot 10 rounds and say, that ammo does not shoot or says that gun sucks. If I change brands of ammo, it can takes at lease 10 rounds to settle down.

Does any shooter on this board do that? Guy do a fair and honest review.

Neither do I. I expect it to shoot about as well as a Savage B22 or a Ruger American which is about what the reviews are indicating. Like I said there is a reason that Springfield only guarantees three shot 1 inch groups at 50 yards, that is about all it is capable of.
