Spotting Scopes,How much magnification to see rock chucks at 1000 yards?

I use a celestron ultima 80 and added the wonderful Baader Hyperion 8mm-24mm click zoom eyepiece (about$300). The Ultima was used with no eyepiece for less than $60 incl. shipping on eBay. A great combination -
