Splody Factor V Max verses Blitzking

Specifically 50 grain on pdogs.

Which explodes more?

Unless you are measuring actual distance that the target was launched at impact, the diameter of the mist pray, and target hang time, I'm not sure you can actually tell. I have had slightly smaller groups with the 55gr BlitzKing than I have with the 60gr. V-max bullets. Pick one and shoot it.

Agreed! I shoot mostly Blitzkings because they shoot better in my rifles. I’ve got a couple thousand 50 VMax, so I need to find something that will shoot them....lol

Whichever shoots the best in each gun. Then if a couple are about the same, whichever is faster if the price is comparable. A real good 50gr bullet is the old Sierra Blitz. We shot many thousands of those things.

I would think you need a consistent target to really know the truth. Every pd is slightly different whether it's position, weight/size, etc, and where the critter was hit. Way too many variables to know scientifically, it will be one of those "debatable" topics for years to come. But they sure are fun to give flying lessons to. :)

I've never used the Blitzkings, but the 50 Vmax is a nasty little pill for ground squirrels in Oregon. The squirrels are small compared to the prairie dogs I've seen (1/3-1/2 the size), so I guess that the bullet would have more distance available to do its work while passing through the animal.

To give you an idea, out of a 12 twist 223 Rem @3050, impact at 150 yards usually blows the animal in half leaving various internal organs scattered up to 25 feet from the rest of the carcass. I have never seen one not expand violently in an animal. I haven't shot animals past 300 with this bullet, as the ranch I hunted didn't have safe backstops for any shots longer than that.

Hope this helps.

I think most of us have found that of all the big 3 ballistic tip bullets, Nos - Vmax - Blitz, its speed and spin rate that makes them go poof. IF you want to make those varmints dance in the air like a pin wheel, shoot them out of something 2 full twist rates faster than what people consider normal. Example. If you're shooting a 14 twist 22-250 go down to a 12 or even a 9 and watch them fly
