I find that odd, that a 1-8 barrel won't stabilize a 105..jim

Jim, Jason has a Broughton pull-buttoned "8-twist". We learned that it is actual closer to a 1:8.3 There's your answer. Also remember Jason shoots a straight 6BR, not an improved, so his velocity is lower than the Dasher guys.

And yes, the 103 Spencers shoot great...

If I remember correctly, Jason Baney shoots the Spencer 103's in his 6mmBR light gun... That gun is a hammer. I've seen him put up some small groups (6" or less) at 1K, in tricky winds (Williamsport.... it's always tricky!)

He switched to the 103's because his "8 twist" barrel wouldn't stabilize the 105+ bullets past 800 yards or so. The 103's work, and they work very well through that barrel.

This is all info that I remembered Jason explaining at the BR school in Williamsport last year... Hopefully I remembered it accurately

I shoot the 105 Berger VLD in one rifle and the Spencer 103 in the other. Spencer 103 is one of the best options out there...each of those rifles shoots to record setting levels. One has a world record...the other I am selling to a friend to get started in this game

My ~8.5 tw broughton will knot the 105 Scenar at 500 (longest 105gn bullet), but loses stability and strings vertical at 1000....went to the 105 Berger VLD and all is well at 1000...got 10 shot score World Record.
