Speer TNT bullets

Iron, You know I have killed a slug of coyotes all over Mexico, Az, and Ca. The 55g speer tnt is a fairly fragile bullet. These bullets often perform very well.

When they don't perform, it is on quartering shots where the bullets need to travel through 12-16" of meat and bone.

If you have not bought up a slug of the 55g Tnt, take these quartering shots into consideration.

Bullets that do work well out of the Swift at 3800 are:

55g nosler ballistic tips
55g Sierra btsp
55g Sierra bthp
55g Sierra spt
55g Hornady sp with cannalure
53g sierra HP match
52g Sierra bthp match

AA2700 will give you long barrel life in a swift, check out the heat index of this powder...shocking!

To watch a coyote lay down after being shot, then wake up running like a scaled cat really sucks the life out of a good stand. Bullet is the cheapest part of the hunt. What is worse, is to watch them spin, nipping at the entrance wound, then realize that they are not dead, and in 5 seconds they are in the next county!

Use a bullet that will break hips, shoulders, heavy ribs and keep on trucking!

Thank you and I'll buy a 1LB of that powder . Shot that rifle this morning shooting that Sierra 53gr HP in front of 38grs of RE#15,it shot well. One thing 3-4 shots out of that thin octagon bbl and it is HOT !

I have had very good luck accuracy wise with TNT bullets. Out of a Swift it should just about cut a coyote in half...there is not much "fur friendly" with a 220 Swift, couple that with TNT bullets and friendly went out the door.
That said, the most accurate 55 grain 22 caliber bullet I have shot lately is undoubtedly the Berger 55 grain Varmint. Any bullet you shoot out of a Swift is going to blow up and destroy a coyote with the possible exception of full metal jackets. Apparently, they don't make FMJ's like they used to because about all I can get them to do is a 2-3" group at 100 yards.

I used a 55 gn. bullet that preformed like the TNT bullets for years. Not because they anchored coyotes, but because I was worried about ricochets.I knock coyotes down several times before I kept them down if I could now get a bullet in through the ribs. built an upper in 243 for my lr-308 and going to 70 SMK bullets. I hit one just a little far back Sat. with that bullet from my 6-284 and a little over 1/2 of what had been on the inside was now outside. It went no where will I went the 190 yards. and finished it. Hit another in the chest that was facing me Sun. abt. 240 yrs. and bang flop. Plus the bullet did not exit. The TNT`s, STX and Blitz bullets in 22 cal. are just not to soft for a reliable coyote bullet in my opinion. I like Ackleymans list list of 22 cal. bullets.

It is a thin jacketed, very violent bullet. On yotes, shot selection will be critical.

With a 220 swift just pour in the powder and whisper something mean into the case, point it in general direction of a coyote and watch it keel over! No bullet needed!
