Bullet recommendation 22-250 for rock chucks

I had an older gent give me 10 boxes of 45 gr white box hollow points this past weekend for 22-250. What is the best twist rate for these ?? Anyone used them ?? Any good ?? I know this is an old thread but thought i would post up anyway..

I started my Varmint hunting with Washington State Rockchucks. My 22-250 load with 52 gr Sierra MatchKings was a great load for the chucks. A side benefit is that if you miss, the bullet turns to powder being so thin skinned.

Be thankful you have a place for Chucks. I'm in NorCal now and don't have any place to hunt them. Enjoy!

Well, i can't decide on a 50 or 55 v-max. I have a fresh barrel on my 22-250 and haven't done any load work up. The barrel is a 1-14, 4 groove Krieger.

I wish my barrels were not 14 twists. I can't shoot the 55 grain Vmaxs not the 52 grain Amaxs. I get best accuracy from 40 grain Vmax. They are spectacular on PDs.

I have had a couple 14 twist 22-250's and AI's. A couple would shoot 55 grain noslers but not the 55 grain V-maxs. Just don't be set on one bullet and you will be fine.

My old barrel hammered with the 55 blitzkings. It shot the 50 v-max very well too. By the time i got around to trying the 55 v-maxs, i think the barrel was going south. I plan on trying the 50 & 55 v-maxs. The Sierras are a bit spendy or i would go that route.

1-14" is perfect for these guys. This is actually a pretty accurate and devastating cheap factory load. A bunch of the local coyote pounders swear by this loads performance . I've shot it before and always had great accuracy. As a bonus your left with once fired winchester brass after.

IMO if you want spectacular kills on chucks you need to get up to at least a 6mm of some flavor. I shoot a 243AI with 105's at 3250fps when I shoot a small caliber. 7mm and .30 magnums are that much better. When you can spray the insides of one all over the rocks/brush or launch it 20+ feet in the air it gets entertaining. Amax's going fast from a magnum case will blow your mind at what they can do. If you try it and start giggling like a school girl you can thank me :D.

^^ This. I shoot 70 gr out of my 243AI and 75 gr from the 25-06 both running close to 3800 fps. It's like a stick of dynamite went off underneath them!
