Specs for 6mm BR Ackley Imp

I have shot a Dasher for several years and have had some measure of success with it. I now have two Dasher barrels that may have a little life left, but I believe that they may be losing some of their competitive edge. Lately, I have read about the 6mm BRA (Ackley 40*), and am curious. If I set back my longest Dasher barrel (or cut off the tenon & re-chambered), would a 26.5 inch length be sufficient for this new cartridge. Also, I prefer a neck diameter of .269 for my Dashers and about .104 for free bore.

Any one care to comment on my new idea? Thanks, James Mock

James, I have a 8 twist 26" I get 2974 from Barts 103 from the imp. with a .125 free bore and an other barrel that does 3250+ with the 80 bt in a 12 twist with a .060 free bore it is a .268 neck. Jim

Thanks Jim. I talked to Bart and he said that he was impressed with the 6BRA using a no-turn neck. I prefer turned necks, but will listen to others with more experience. What reamer are you using for this chambering? Thanks again. James

If you order from JGS they will give you my body specs. Throat and freebore is up to you. Use your current dasher seater and get a D2.5 or D3 from Harrells with .080 cut off, they will do it for you. I have chambered a pile of these lately and the feedback have been 100% positive. My reamer is a .268. If you go with the same or larger neck diam as what is in you dasher barrel, the chamber with clean up if you set it back 2 turns.
Even @tom is dasher-less LOL.

James, I have two the first was made from a new unused Dasher reamer from JGS. A .266 neck because that is what the reamer was, .125 free bore and .2435 free bore diameter .460 shoulder .4708 at the .200 line and 1.560 long chamber The second one is a .268 neck and .060 free bore and .2438 free bore diameter the rest is the same and both use a Harrell's D3 Dasher die cut off about .080 .......
