source for action screws

Does anyone have a good source for machine screws? I would like to replace all my take down/action screws to the allen head type. Also eliminate having to carry slot driver set in my shooting box.

I already checked with Brownell, they only have items for remmy, mauser etc, I thought there might be a place specialize in machine screws where I may do a one-stop shopping.

What is the thread pitch on your action that it doesn't match that of one of the regular commercial actions,Remington, Savage, Winchester, Ruger)?

Might try someplace like McMaster-Carr for a wide variety of screws, bolts, fittings, etc.

Milanuk: Thanks for the McMaster-Carr link, I have not seen the on-line version of the catalog. In the past I always used the paper catalog, this web version is just so much nicer to use. They have great stuff and a great resource.

The screws I'm looking are for Cooper, Howa, Browning and Wichita, don't know they share the same thread with other makes. If you know, please enlighten me. Thanks

No idea what the ones you have are... Remington and Savage are 1/4-28. Most of the Remingtons I've used have been some sort of tapered head; some of the Savage action screws are more of a pan head. I know Brownell's has extra long screws for the Remington for deeper aftermarket stocks.

Find someone w/ a tap-n-die set that should have a thread-pitch gauge and find out what you have. That should make finding a suitable substitute a lot easier.

Call Bill Shehane at D&B supply. He has them in polished stainless steel
various lenghts, tapered head, flat head,Allen socket just about any thing you need. 704-824-7511
