Source for a stock replacement remington 700 bolt

Well I got the rifles (2 brand new 700 ADL short actions) for $317 with tax...
Walmart put 223 ADL’s with the scope on clearance - I snagged a couple but getting a 308 bolt face for them would be excellent..

So paying less for a bolt would be good :)

I bought a complete used .308 bolt off of Ebay a few years ago for $125. There are a lot of new take off bolts on there for around $175.

mabie it would be cheaper to have the bolt face opened to the size you want. I dont know if this is possible for sure but i think so. were you going to sell the original bolts. did u just buy these- ill go check my walmart.

I know Dave has bolts... I was wondering if anyone sold factory bolts for ~ 100 bucks... I’m out of luck with that.
Frankly if I’m going to spend 125 or more I’ll kick it up a notch and get a one piece sized for the action.

The Idea here is to have 2 bolts so I can swap barrels - I’m a smith with a lathe so I keep good actions, and swap barrels so I don’t want to modify the current 223 bolt... I’m just checking options (haven’t done this before with a remy).

Thats a good idea-- I hope this works out for you- i went to Wally and got one of these for 307 out the door- great deal and thanks for the heads up

YW, it’s a heck of a deal when you can get an entire action and scope for just a bit more than the cost of a stand alone bolt !!

I'm in a similar position... I have an unfired Remington 700 Etronx .22-250 VSS that I want to convert to a conventional firearm (mechanical trigger, standard bolt). I know this can be done simply by replacing the trigger and bolt... but I need a bolt. I can buy a Remington 700 SA stainless action for around $400... and sell the action to recoup some of the investment while keeping the bolt and trigger. I know the bolt needs to have the headspace checked, and adjusted if necessary... is this possible to do without any work on the barrel and action? Or would I be better off spending more money and going with a PTG bolt?

May or may not matter to you but be aware that the integral feed lips and release points in the .223 receivers are not the same as the other larger calibers. They are narrower, shallower, and the release points are farther forward in the magazine well. Might not feed reliably from the magazine with a .473 base round. 6.8 SPC's and short magnums are different also.
