Sound moderator damage.

A fox shooter brought this in recently.its a tikka 595 factory barrel which has had the sound moderator left on for around 3years and never been cleaned.he didn't no how many rounds he put down the barrel exactly.he said hundreds.the sound moderator was a Reflex.the internal sleeve had corroded away causing all the pitting and fouling on the barrel exterior.the bore is completely shot as one would expect.i see quite alot of crown damage where the moderator is left on.usually a inch or two removed recut thread and crown does the trick.this one had to have a new barrel.

Yes, and they don't treat suppressors with the same amount of care in England because they can go into a mom and pop store and buy them over the counter (for a few hundred bucks) UNLIKE the hell we have to go through here on this side of the pond.

Well, dayum... who'd have guessed that would be the case?

Maybe, just maybe... we can finally revive the Hearing Protection Act after a landslide "R" victory today.

Close, but we still need to do paperwork, but relatively simple and painless compared to the USA.
On the other hand, the does experience barrel replacement for $900 upwards, and requires paperwork, and can't directly receive the firearm or barrel, but instead go to a registered gun shop.

A sound moderator is another term for suppressor.one cannot just go to a dealer or a gun shop and purchase one unless he or she has got a slot-space on there firearms certificate to authorise them to purchase or own one.it is classified as a firearm.when purchased there firearms Admin unit has to be notified of the transaction by both parties and entries on certificate and dealer's register filled in with.. manufactures name, serial number and caliber if applicable.its not as straight forward as dantiff2 said.firearms laws in England are one of the strictest in the world.authorities don't need any excuse to revoke your certificates..leave a live round on the kitchen table or your sound moderator and your tickets are gone.everything has to be locked away when not in use.

Thank you for the full clarification of your process : ) I honestly never did my own research. I've read where European shooters say that it's normal for everyone in a match to have suppressors and that they were easily obtained, so I naturally assumed that you didn't have to go through the rigors that we do. Our process is very painless with the exception of the wait period. If you are not a criminal, you "shouldn't" have any problems being approved to own one but you won't get what you paid for in any kind of timely manner. Some folks have waited well over a year for theirs.

The new kiosks have made it a pretty easy process. 3mo average right now

Tell that to my customers who are on month #11 right now.
The wait times were getting much better but have drastically gone the other way.
Well you must not have a kiosk. They have some coming in 7 days but most are 90. Heres the locations you can send them to. If yall use a paper form you may not ever get them approved

You assume way too much.
I have customers who have purchased their suppressors thru silencershop's kiosk NOT from me.

CORRECTION: I just spoke to one of my customers in the Midwest for an update:
They are at 8 months as of now,

The article you linked to is 7 months old.
Some things have changed....

Waiting times used to be listed by days, now they just round up by months.

Wait times are now exceeding projections.

I'm at 6 months and losing ground.......

The only people who are getting them inside 90 days are military personnel who get orders and get expedited.
