I like this better!Us jazz guys classify that Basie tune as blues. Then again I am taking about a style and you are talking about a genre. The first tune I posted is more straight ahead swing. Here is another bluesey jazz tune I like......and have played:
He is so underrated!! Top 3 in my book. Here is another of my fav "early rockers"! Jeff Beck and "Beck's Bolero"... Far and away ahead of it's time!
"The Yardbirds" were in fact, the forerunner of Led Zeppelin.. They too were FAR beyond their time! This particular song was actually made famous by Aerosmith.. But I like The Yardbirds version better! He is so underrated!! Top 3 in my book.

I have a hard time with calling Led Zep an offshoot of the Yardbirds since it contained none of the original members or any members except Page. When Relf and McCarty left the Yardbirds were for all intents disbanded in my opinion."The Yardbirds" were in fact, the forerunner of Led Zeppelin.. They too were FAR beyond their time! Love that one, thanks for posting...have not thought of them in years . I saw them in the late 1970s,Clarkson college in Potsdam NY...great show . Paul Goddard (RIP) did a bass solo I will never forget ,
