Songs that "Stick like Glue"

Howdy !

Lot’s of good songs stick w/ me....

The “Mama’s and Papa’s”...”12:30 ( young girls are coming to the canyon ).
John Phillips would have the group keep re-doing a song while recording, until “Harvey” shoved up. Harvey was a “fifth voice” that was created by the perfection of the other four’s singing. On the recording “12:30” sometimes Denny sings lead, sometimes Michele and Cass do; and in a couple of spots “Harvey” does. When listening to that song, try to keep identifying who and what exactly the lead is.

Petulant Clark’s ..... “ I know a place “, and “Colour my World “. In the 70s-80s I had a top flight audio set-up. My equalizer and associated ancillary equipment allowed me to bring out “midrange”, treble; and base
at will. Petula was a mezzo soprano I believe, and could really nail notes w/
Instrument-level clarity.

The Who....”Can’t Explain”

Hollies...”Look through any Window”

Herman’s Hermits..... “No Milk Today”

The Doobie Bro’s “ Rockin down the Highway”

Z Z Top...... “Balanese”......”Chevrolet”

Steve Miller....”Mexico”

Alman Bro’s ..... “End of the Line”

Rush..... “Fly by Night/In the Mood”

Rick Derringer... “Slide on over Slinky”

Joe Walsh.....”Funk 49”

Jethro Tull.... “Aqualung”

Fleetwood Mac.... “ I don’t want to Know”

Left Bank... “Walk Away Renee”.....”Pretty Ballerina”

Box Tops....”Soul Deep”

CCR.....”Born on the Bayou”

Mitch Ryder....”Devil with the Blue Dress/Good Golly Miss Molly”

Stevie Wonder...”Signed Sealed Delivered”

Tom Petty.....””You Wreck me”

Monkeys..... “Valerie”, featuring guitar riffs by Glen Campbell

Aretha.....”House that Jack Built”

Roger Miller....”Chug-a-lug”......”Dang Me”.....”Hard Hard Headed Me”

Emmy Lou Harris.....”In my Dreams”

Judith Collins....”Someday Soon”

And on and on.....

"The Yardbirds" were in fact, the forerunner of Led Zeppelin.. They too were FAR beyond their time! This particular song was actually made famous by Aerosmith.. But I like The Yardbirds version better!

I have a hard time with calling Led Zep an offshoot of the Yardbirds since it contained none of the original members or any members except Page. When Relf and McCarty left the Yardbirds were for all intents disbanded in my opinion.

Love that one, thanks for posting...have not thought of them in years . I saw them in the late 1970s,Clarkson college in Potsdam NY...great show . Paul Goddard (RIP) did a bass solo I will never forget ,
he always seemed to me as a person most unlikely to be a BA bass player.. i got to seem em once.. in 1977
