Something in bore?

I bought a used remington 700 .243
I looked down the bore from the chamber end,and I see something about 2-3 inches past chamber,it looks to be about maybe 1/4,kinda up and down,it don't have bore scope, nearest gunsmith is 1 hour away.
I ran some sweets 7.62 through it,and dies there is copper in bore.
Could it be some copper build up?
Or am I being to anal about it?
I know alot of people probably don't even look down the bore.
I did this this morning, had to get to work, I'll clean the bore more with sweets and see what happens?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

1/4… as in 1/4"? Or, blocking 1/4 of the bore? Whatever it is, you need to remove it.

It looks like something stuck inside of bore, not blocking bore, like a piece of something in between rifling, kinda hard to explain

I'm just wondering if it's copper build up?
Not likely ................ Copper build up would be evenly distributed. More likely a piece of patch material, bristle/bristles from a wire brush or small piece of jacket material ironed on to the bore by multiple shots. ............... Fill the bore with a quality bore cleaner that attacks copper and let it stand over night then use a tight/ fresh bronze brush. If that doesn't work, bite the bullet and take it to that guy (hopefully a Smith) that's an hour away. ........ If it's a factory bbl. it could be a flaw in the original rifling. By all means follow JRS's advice above. Good luck.

You could put a white cleaning patch on a rod & insert from bore end & stop
right before the object your trying to see. Get a bright penlight & see if you
are able to see any better. I would follow the advice from the previous posts
& have a smith check it out.

If you own firearms, I would suggest a bore scope or at minimum a $20 scope from Amazon that attaches to your phone or computer. It's not great but at least you could see what's going on .

I got all the copper out,it's in between the rifling, can't tell if it's a crack or what,I can't feel it with a patch

Carbon???

Try some Bore Tech C4 or some kind of carbon remover. You NEED a borescope. All those that shoot could use one.

Scrub that sucker with Iosso or JB paste. And good cleaning solution too. I'd do full cleaning routine plus add the Iosso/JB. Then repeat couple times. If it's still in the take to gun smith
