Some of the best spotting scopes????

Phil

Who is making some of the best spotting scopes?????

Intended use will be 600-1200+++ yard rock chuck spotting / shooting, so i need something that will reach way out there on small targets.

Thanks,

Phil.

Creedmoor Sports had the Kowa TSN-82 SV with 25x LER eyepiece for around $825. Great price for a good setup. Check the website, they may still be offering it.
I just upgraded to it.
You can also buy just the body and the 20-60 eyepiece.

Here is a good review on some current models. When I was in the market and researching spotting scopes, it seemed that most of what I read was that the Vortex Razor was the best for the money and the Kowa TSN-883 was the best of them all.

+1 Hard to go wrong with Kowa and this particular model is very good. The Celestron Regal M2 27x80 ED Spotter is a very sharp and a steal: http://www.amazon.com/Celestron-52312-Regal-27x80-Spotting/dp/B00IBIMGDC If you are willing to spend some dough the new Swarovski scopes are hard to beat.

Swarowski, Kowa, Meopta(NF) and Hensoldt are all excellent choices.

My choice was the Hensoldt spotter 60, excellent optics, useful mil based reticle, rubber armored and very solidly built, but with a high price tag.

The new Swaro with a built in reticle also looks extremely promising.

That Celestron 22-67 x 100 for 699.00 is looking like it might be the one......

Decent reviews and reasonably priced.......

The Nightforce spotter is exceptional. I have used/looked through lots or high end spotters and for my eyes it is the best.

I thought the question was about "best" spotting scopes? A Celestron ain't even gonna get you close. Nor will anything else for $699. You'll get what you pay for in that price range. But for shooting chucks in the daylight, that may be all the scope that's needed. Not like you need exceptional low light performance or ultra high resolution for that application. If you were gonna use it for some serious hunting, I would definitely say stay away from the cheap optics. But for target shooting and daylight varmint fodder, the Celestron will probably be just fine. Just beware of eye fatigue. All the cheaper glass will give it to you. You spend all day behind cheap glass and you'll have a headache behind your eyeball like you won't believe.

Has anyone tried the Vortex Razor spotter?

I owned the 16-48x65mm Razor and have looked through its big brother many times. The smaller Razor actually has a wider field of view at like powers. They are nice glass for sure, but at extreme distances the resolution can't keep up with top shelf Alpha spotters. And the Razor lacks in low light performance as well. But they are a good value considering the price point and awesome warranty the come with.

I sold my Razor and bought the Meopta S2 HD 20-70. Couldn't be happier
