Solved: Has anyone successfully re-created Neolube No 2?

I said I'd post the results when I mixed up a batch with the resin binder, and I'm a man of my word. The recipe I used is as follows...

12 teaspoons of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
2 1/2 teaspoons of Molybdenum (MoS2)
1 1/2 teaspoons of Phenolic Resin

This made just under 2oz of "Marko lube No. 1"

The Phenolic resin comes in a 1lb bag, which is wayyyy more than I'll use in a lifetime, but couldn't find a smaller quantity.

In the video, the two on the left are Neo lube No. 2 and the two on the right are Marko lube No. 1...Neo lube is still much darker, not sure why. But you'll see that my homemade lube sticks now just like the Neo lube. I'm going to continue to play with the recipe to see if I can get away with a little less resin and maybe a bit more molybdenum. I'm also thinking about getting some of the Tungsten Disulfide mentioned above, but the shipping cost is steep.

But I call this a success. All in, I'm probably about 45 bucks into it and have enough material to last me two lifetimes.

Love the dedication to a cause. Looks promising
I'm a systems engineer in the real world and I tend to get sucked into rabbit holes trying to improve things...sometimes with diminishing returns, lol.

In this case, the concoction works really well and I'm happy with it. The only thing I'm not crazy about is when the bottle sits for awhile all the moly settles on the bottom, creating a clear layer of alcohol on top and moly on the bottom. So you just have to shake it up really well before use.

Neolube doesn't separate like that. I have no idea how they did that because graphite and moly aren't soluble. I'm not a chemist, but I'm guessing they did something chemically to create a graphite/Isopropyl dispersion. But that's a problem for another day...it works well as is.
