Solid Brass Turned Bullets

I am using Barnes TTSX 140 gr bullets in my VZ24 Mauser 7mm sporter.
After I learned how to seat them, they are the most accurate bullet I have used in this gun including some 162 gr A-MAX I borrowed from my 7mm long range BR heavy gun!

They have raised bands to grave into the rifling so the pressure on the barrel shouldn't be any worse than standard bullets I would think.

One of our members,Alan Warner of Warner Tool, makes them, but they are solid copper. Since they are lighter than a lead jacketed bullet, they are very long for their weight.

They were given to me to test, they are 6.5. They measure good in all respects and I was going to shoot them in a 6.5x47, but they are hard as a rock compared to a copper bullet. I don't want to ruin my barrel no matter how good they might be. DG

A friend is trying the WTC 198grn copper bullets in his 300RUM long range hog rifle. 1000yds. It is promising, but the length of the bullets allow it to be fed by removing the bolt-toolong for the Remington receiver. I have an Obermyer barrel in 11.25 twist and will chamber it for the lighter bullets.

Ill leave brass bullets to the elephant hunters. Cant see the need of one under a 45-50cal

Dusty, I actually think they may start showing up in the equip. list for long range shooters.

No nat, i knew warner was making solid turned copper bullets, and i knew the OP was talking about solid turned brass bullets. Ive also been using barnes turned copper bullets for years- they are straight killers. And i know barnes makes turned brass solids for killing elephants. Not even sure where turned copper bullets entered this conversation.

I'm afraid I am the one who turned the subject from brass to copper.
I didn't stop to think that the subject was turned brass bullets when I commented on my success with Barnes turned Copper!

Hey i love the barnes bullets norm! Thats all i shoot an animal with. From a pronghorn to a bull moose they have worked for me well!!
