There's always a catch. Mine is quite into guns so I cannot add to the 'herd' without it being noticed. I learned this when I came home with a 30-378 a few years ago. We went elk hunting last year and she took it. Yes, she shoots it too. It's now HERs. I was consigned to my 338 Win Mag.

I agree with the others, get two of the same rifles. 6CM would be my choice.

I’m honestly glad my wife doesn’t shoot with me. My dog goes with me, the wife stays home. Shooting and the the toilet are my sanctuary these days. I don’t want company at either one.
My wife is a very good archer, she is a 5 time national champion (in her age class). She is a school teacher and gets home earlier than I did before I retired. She would get out her bow and shoot for an hour or so before I would get home. I would eventually get home and have an Iced tea and drag my bow out and she would follow me out to the cotton bale with her bow (no mention of having already shot for an hour). About 10 minutes into our shooting session, she would start with "Oh could you fix my serving?". "My vanes are coming lose can you fix them?" and on and on and on. I have never figured out if she was desperate to get her bow fixed or just sabotaging my practice. When it was fix the bow time I was "Come with me and I will teach you to fix your serving." " No you just do it I am not that good at fixing things. "One day I had had it with her whining and I made her fletch her own arrows. She has made arrows that have won national matches. She always got me or Ron to cut them but anybody can live with that. Be very careful when taking you wife shooting, I may not be as cool as you think.

I do all of the reloading, cleaning, tuning and testing on my girlfriend’s 6 dasher…..and then she takes it and wins 3 in a row, including a mid range prone state championship. She rarely practices and never writes anything in her notebook, and the extent of her questions regarding my reloading for her rifles is limited to her asking, “is this ammo exactly the same as last time? Or did you change anything? I love shooting with her but she has no interest in practicing. She just likes to compete.

When my wife was shooting a PSE many years ago, she shoot one till the edges of the cams broke off from constant shooting. The tech at PSE said in his notes Ive never seen a cam worn out and i service the gorilla teams bows. I never had a problem with her practicing as much as she wants, just had a problem ruining my practice.
I just wish mine would learn to hand load my ammo. Of course that could wind up not in my favor.
I bought my wife an iron and a new ironing board, and taught her how to cook. See I do care! It’s the little things that count, I don’t want to spoil her.

It definitely takes some time and practice to learn to control the trigger on a semi auto pistol. The longer pull, follow through and reset are certainly different. I’ve learned a lot from doing sporting clays and pistol lessons for women. They are easier to teach. They are very tenacious and quick learners. They soak up instruction like a sponge and retain it well. Plus they have certain motor skills and control that tend to make them very good shots in general. Many women will outshoot their husbands once they catch on. Be prepared for that. One of the best pistols I found for working with women, kids, or pretty much anyone was a Browning Buckmark or Ruger bull barreled target pistol in 22LR.
