I took what is quite a plunge for me. At our last local gunshow, I got caught by the guys promoting membership at our Sportsmans Park. I've been going to the place occasionally and paying the $10 daily fee, but I decided to pony up $70, and hopefully take advantage of it.
Place is thirty miles from my house, Has pistol range, 200 yd rifle, 600 yd rifle, sporting clays, archery, RC plane field, overnight camping, off-road area,-- think that's about it.
I can still run "up the hill" two miles away to shoot a group, or test a load, but it's usually windy as Kansas, and I've got to take my portable bench. l think this will be a good thing, and I can probably pay for the membership fee just by the brass I can pick while there. (which is allowed) On weekdays, there's usually almost no one there, and it's got a pretty comfortable atmosphere. My groups will probably improve by 20% just from shooting off of concrete, and more friendly wind conditions than I'm used to.
