Smoked Candy Kestros

Taking a technique from @Alex Wheeler I did a multi layer custom marble starting with a black base, titanium gunmetal, then applied prismatic pearl, followed with Alex's rhythmic marble and finished with 4 good coats of smoked candy.
This is going to look super badass once the melonited Kelby action is resting in place.
I like this so much I'm painting 1 for myself to match.20210325_141701.jpg20210325_141430.jpg20210325_141757.jpg20210325_141543.jpg

I feel lucky in that that Kestros is headed my way. I'm extremely excited, Brett, to see it.

In the various threads of stocks that Brett has posted there are obviously lots of comments about the result he creates. And they're clearly very well deserved. However I haven't seen anyone talk about what the process is like working with Brett to transform a stock. The experience has simply been a delight.

It started with him asking a simple question: "What are you thinking?" That was the starting point of the exchanging of numerous texts as well as talking on the phone. I really didn't know specifically what I wanted, but I described in high level terms what I like, and the feeling I wanted to create. We went back and forth and at one point it became very clear he "had the picture". He knew what would work.

What's really fun is how excited and passionate Brett is. He sent lots of pictures. Kept me updated during the whole process. It was really fun to see the stock transform as he worked on it.

One quick story - which is a testament to his precision and attention to detail: Prior to shipping the stock to him I sent him the below photo. I pointed out there was a chip out of the cheekpiece. I wasn't pointing it out to ask or assume it would get fixed. I wanted him to know it was there so when he unboxed it he knew it didn't happen in transit from me to him. Toward the end of the process he sent me a closeup of that corner of the cheekpiece with a simple statement: "Chip fixed." You can see in the photos there's not any remnant of it.

He's passionate about what he does. He does it with extreme precision. And he has great customer communication while he's working. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Jim

Yup....problem with that kind of Quality is ...Im forever getting stuff scuffed and well just
plain used...Not abused...but you know...Your quality is too nice to use out in the sand out here
in Arizona....Id feel bad for getting it scuffed and dinged up....
Thats nicer than some of the top show cars that just get trailerd to the shows...( too clean to drive ) lol
