smk

SMK is not a hunting bullet and will not provide the controlled expansion needed for a clean humane kill. This target only bullet may only wound where a Gameking or other hunting specific bullet would work better. That said, if your intent is to shoot varmints controlled expansion is less important on small critters one wants to simply explode with a high velocity hollow point and some target rounds have proven quite effective. Take a look at a reloading manual and it will provide the information you seek. Everyone who reloads should have at least one and for the wealth of information they provide they are the best buy of any of your reloading equipment. Good Shooting,Valkrider

I to agree.but you can take a look at the 210 berger.or if you like you can look at the 208 A-max.YES I know its a papper bullet and NOT a hunt'n bullet.but let me tell you this,it has been proven to be just as good as a hunt'n bullet as a papper bullet.matter of a fact most use any A-max for hunt'n,from a 75gn to a 208gn.

me and a friend have worked up a load in our 300wm's with them just for that reason.we are pushing it with 76gn of H1000,250 primers.I use remmy brass and he uses win brass.both a seated in the lands.and they fly great with this load in both of our rifels.

Oh boy here we go! I wondered when some one was going to go down that road again? Serria states that the SMK bullet is not a hunting bullet, but let me tell you from expericence that it is. Several white tail with a 30/06 and 168gr SMK, one mule deer with a 7/08 loaded with a 175gr SMK, pigs, groundhogs, and two elk. I also use the Bergers, Noslers, Hornady, Speer, and hopefully you get the picture. I like the way the SMK's shoot in some of my guns. And I, let me repeat, I have never lost or had to track a big game animal using one. So be very careful, this is a very slipery slope. Some guys will tell you that the berger is not for hunting either. So say "got a use an accubond, or partition, or corelock"or whatever. Get you gun shooting, learn to shoot it from hunting postions, spend time in the woods and stop worring about all the arm chair quarterbacks.

I use SMK bullets with plenty of success. I have been kicking around using berger bullets but at this point what I am shooting works very well.

Yep, SMKs may be described as a paper punching only type of bullet but Ive heard and seem them first hand and they perform haha.
