Contact Nesika (Dakota Arms) and tell them what has happened, and to be on the lookout for someone looking for a bolt for that action.

I feel your pain, and I hope the perpetrators have a change of heart and return your rifle with apologies.

--If not, I hope they get a cold cell in the State Penitentiary, and a steady diet of nutraloaf.

If you are an NRA member you qualify for $2500.00 insurance. However, as we have explained before, this insurance is NOT valid unless you "activate" it by going online or by mailing in an activation form. Other forum members have been burned by this little-known activation clause.

Good Luck recovering the lost items. Another reason to keep guns in a safe whenever possible.

Don't count on the cops to find them. When a couple of dumb a**es kicked down my door in the early 70's and took my guns, I conducted my own investigation (questioned all the neighbors and logically assembled the clues) and tracked them down in less than 24 hours. All the cops did was keep the guns from me for many, many months. Held for evidence, of course. In the end I did get them back and the perps went to prison. Well, the one that was a 3 time offender did anyway. His accomplice was a greenhorn who got off with probation.

I feel real sorry for you. I think people who steal from other individuals are among the worst low life's of society. Unlike stealing from a bank, a store, or the boss (which is still plenty wrong) they know they are taking something from a private individual that worked hard to get what they have. I regard people like that as the most selfish and detached ba*tards that we must share our air with.

Hopefully they will be caught not too long from now trying to pass off a rifle missing the bolt. Perhaps that will be your saving grace.

Sorry to hear of your loss Dave, it's some world we live in when you can't even trust your neighbors. Hopefully the perps will be caught. I had a robbery happen to me back in May of 2012 . Fortunately the house has a monitored alarm system so they left it alone but they stole everything else they could lay their druggie hands on from my outbuildings. I now have cameras in addition to my alarm system.

I'll definately keep my eyes and ears open, You were kind enough to let me handle your gun at Randy's in Waterford back this last spring. It is an awesome rifle even if my wife wasn't empressed. As we live in the same area, I'll be looking for it myself. Jim

They knew who I was and what I had because they had been in my house. They knew where I was on a Saturday afternoon because they were friends of a friend and were there when we arrived to visit the mutual friend. They left almost immediately and stayed gone until just before we left. Their plan was to make it look like they never had time to drive 40 miles and do something like that in the short two hours we were gone.

They didn't count on the ten year old boy from down the street who gave me a perfect description of their brown road runner with a black top. There were two men who got out and were running back and forth into the house carrying stuff out and putting it in the car. They tried to get the console TV, but they couldn't get it in the car. One man was blond and muscled up. The other was regular looking and dark headed. The whole key was that I had only lived in the house three months and there had only been three people there that I did not trust implicitly. It was a simple matter of eliminating the three one at a time by questioning them correctly. I found out where one couple had been all afternoon by acting like I had just come over for a visit. Things the wife said made it clear they had been in another area when my break-in happened. I did the same with one other possible perp and he turned out oK too. That left the boyfriend of my wifes best friend. He had been to our new house with her a week or so ago and knew we had nice stuff. When we went to visit my wife's girlfriend that saturday, he left and went straight to our place and robbed it, then had the gall to come back to the girlfriends house and face us as if nothing had happened.

When we got home and found the door kicked in, I immediately filed a police report and he said, "With no clues, we don' t have a very good chance of making a recovery. The perps usually fence the stuff immediately, so if they are not caught right away, you will never get anything back unless they are caught within 24 hrs.

Well, after the cops left I questioned everyone on the block who had been home when it happened. Most couldn't tell me anything, but the kid sure did. When I eliminated the other two suspects, I drove back to Elkart to this guys house and sure enough, there was our vacuum cleaner sitting on his back porch. I apprehended him and called the police. They searched the rest of the house and found where they had stashed all my stuff in their attic except the guns. They had taken the guns straight to a bar and sold them the same afternoon. The cops were able to get names and track the guns down rather quickly.

The bottom line in cases like this is, it's almost always someone you know and they know when you are gone.

Good luck on this one.

bastards got my truck overnight. Sig P938 and some Leica stuff. even though i had read about activating the insurance, i never did it.

i don't know if i feel more stupid for leaving the stuff in my vehicle, not activating the free insurance, or pissed off at the thieves.

Are there any neighbors that might have security cameras that might have picked up on the crime. I would question everyone you trust including kids with the consent of the parents of course.

Got the S/N on the Nightforce.
I see 12-42 Nightforces flipping on here all the time.
Please keep an eye out for S/N W20880
The 17 pound is the one that hurts the most.
Asshats dont have a clue what it is or does.
90 year old lady across the street has pretty much filled in the blanks.
I left the house on the motorbike at 1030 AM.
They were in the house and gone by 1100 am. ....that soon after I left..
White van in my driveway pulled around back alittle so it was hard to see from street.
These guys had me pegged bigtime.
I dont know the actual guy that did it but I do know where they live.
No real way to prove it.
Its druggies as always.
Never in a million years did I think this could happen to me.
It did .
Im smarter for it.But its been a very expensive education.
Never trust anyone you dont know.
And at min. get a good gun safe.
Even if you dont think you need one....

Thanks again for your help guys.
