Slug a Barrel

This is all fascinating
Like I mentioned I have a CZ That Seals! It shoots great- ARA winner
I have a 40X that is so big the slug falls through like a golf ball thrown down a hall way until near the muzzle then slight felt resistance--it is ammo picky but with good lots it is fantastic shooter.

Slugging is common in the cast bullet world. Mainly to get the correct sizing die for the bullets, but, as mentioned here, it will also find 'loose' spots in the barrel. I always preferred slugging from the chamber end as you can feel any 'beneficial' taper.
