Over that last year or so, I have tried just about everything available to catch the brass from my SKS.
Part of the problem, is that it throws it in different directions, and really far.
Tried a soft one that attached to the rifle, but caused a lot of jams. Modified it, and made only a slight improvement. It also interfered with being able to see the rear sight.
Bought a universal catcher from CTR Precision that looks like a large fishing net. No matter how I placed it on the bench or a tripod, it caught the fewest with only about a 10% success rate. At times, it was almost against the side of the rifle and still wasn't doing very well. Many would hit the rim and bounce away.
Recently I was able to try out the latest acquisition for this purpose. E&L Manufacturing produces a rigid snap on style that quickly attaches to the rifle. It sports a hole in the top to allow the bolt to be released after it has been attached.
It was 100% effective and I did not experience a single malfunction through 50 rounds of my hand loads. The brass looks better than ever, and I could not be more pleased.
