Okay, my prized, closely-guarded secret revealed: 90 grain Swift Scirocco II bullet backed by a CCI 250 Magnun Primer in a Remington Nickel-Plated case with 44.4 Grains of Hodgdon H4350 powder set at a C.O.L. of 2.687." This maximum load is not for every .243 Winchester, so start at 43.0 grains and work up by .2 grains carefully. Some rifles will Not Like this maximum loading that works so sweetly for me, so back-off swiftly! This is a bolt-action load only! AR-10s, pump-action, and older bolt-actions need not apply, since this is a MAXY-POWER load designed for LATE-MODEL REMINGTON MODEL 700s only. I'm not here to blow anyone's head-off! I reluctantly offer this finding as a Smurf-Killer TOP Load that works for me, but may be WAY TOO STOUT for your .243 Winchester. Learning what's enough power-pressure for your rifle is the KEY regarding TOP loadings. NEVER start with a MAXIMUM LOAD, since it could be OVER-MAXIMUM in any given rifle. Yet, any lesser powder load with a Swift Scirocco II bullet WILL out-power most other .243 Winchester bullets downrange. A word to the wise should be adequate, since we are loading premium warheads for medium game-sized (deer) animals at an honest 300 yard range. We are not paper-target-poppers with drastic gravity-windage-compensation hopefulness of 600 yard, wish-we-could-as-realistic-hunters, loaded for what we seek at truly fair range. Keep expections-in-the-ballpark of range and stalk in closer as true hunters have always had to do to score a proper hit. Just because a .243 load can scream passed a .30/30 load's potential, does not mean one owns the open prairies of Wyoming. Hunting is Stalking: Doubt Not. Cliffy
