Single Shot in a BDL Type Stock

I picked up a Remington 700 long action BDL composite stock for my new build. I am gluing in a single shot loading ramp so I don't need the BDL setup. How do you recommend I handle the magazine opening in the stock?

Thanks for the advice,

Cort

I've been known to use BDL bottom metal & just leave the magazine hole alone. Makes a handy little storage spot....

Thanks! The BDL bottom metal is a very easy solution. Has anyone done anything different???

Does it make good sense to fill the magazine well with Devcon or something???

I would leave it open, just in case you decide at some point to use in a different configuration or sell the stock for some reason. And as Alton mentioned, it can be a little storage spot. Filling the magazine well with devcon would not make the rifle shoot any better either. I would leave it be, but that is my thought. Jonathan

I left everything alone and just installed a " Score High " Follower on top of the

Remington followl er. No glue ,no mess no fuss, removable in a few seconds.

Steve

For weight saving in F/TR I removed the spring and factory follower and installed a piece of styrofoam block to hold the Score High/Davidson in place....on some you might be able to use the spot to add weight if needed.

Thanks all. I am going to try the BDL floor plate/trigger guard and some Styrofoam to support the single shot loading ramp. I was going to glue in the ramp but it will be easier to go back to the original configuration if I don't.
