Single-Piece Scope Rings

I'm looking to purchase a one-piece scope ring setup for a .284 Win. build. So far I've been eying the F3R Machine, Spuhr, and Near Manufacturing setups. Anything else to add to my short-list? Any reason to look at one over another or drawbacks you've found to any? Mostly used 2pc Leupold, Warne, Talley, and similar sets so I don't have experience with any of these other brands or one pc ring sets, so any insight is helpful.

They are all really solid with the Spuhr probably being the strongest I’ve seen. The Spuhr ring cap design is also the best because it allows for full visibility of all 3 turrets on a scope.

One piece mounts are almost always perfectly aligned for zero scope tube stress which is probably the biggest benefit. One downside to one piece mounts is that the distance between the rings is fixed and with certain optics and actions that can be a hindrance when mounting for ideal eye relief. I wish the companies making one piece mounts not only offered them in different ring heights, but also different ring length spacing. Other than not being able to change ring to ring distance, a one piece mount is far superior to two piece rings in terms of strength, rigidity, and alignment right out of the box.

Another downside could be weight. Where a Spuhr mount weighs in at half a pound, and something like the NF one piece at 6 oz, a good two piece ring set such as Seekins rings can be as light as 3-4 oz. Of course that’s not an issue for some people but for those watching their weight for hunting or competition rifle limits, it might be something to consider.

If your building a hunter, DNZ's work well. I have a 34mm
on a target rifle with 20moa built in. They are hefty.

I have switched all my rifles to Talley and have never regretted that decision. If you have any problems or issues, they will back up their product.

That's why I'm liking the one piece mounts - having that perfect alignment. After looking at them, I see now how the Spuhr is milled for full visibility of turrets. I do like that the F3R is American made, and only a couple hours away from me. I do wish the F3R had a bubble level built in like the Spuhr instead of the add-on atop of the rings and an extra picatinny level. Appreciate all the info- definitely makes me look at some features closer.

I've used the DNZ's on a hunting build. They were nice, but really not what I was looking for on the rifle I had. The Freedom Reaper looks nice, but I dont think it's what I'm looking at for this application.

I've used Talley Ultralights for hunting rifles and they work well, but I was trying to save weight. Had a set that were drilled slightly off and Talley was great about making it right! Worked well on my Kimber Mtn Ascent with a light Zeiss HD5 I still think the 3 I have above are more what I'm gearing towards more than Talley's

F3R looks like a good sturdy setup and half the price! Can easily add your own bubble level on the scope tube.

The level on the Spuhr isn’t very useable anyhow because it’s located in a bad spot that’s tough to see while lined up behind the scope. I always put a bubble level on the scope anyways.

The Burris Signature line with inserts is still the one to beat in my mind. Nothing has yet. A one piece mount that is perfect off the rifle can still be bowed or twisted depending on how it mounts to the rifle. Bedding it is the way to go. Just a thought.
