Single line 60 degree checkering tool

I have been trying to chase the checkering out on my dads old shotgun with home made tools. I might be messing it up, not sure yet. Seems these tools are quite expensive at least to me. Anyone know where I could get one of these with a handle on the cheap.
Thank you

You're right, the prices are high.It is not a particularly difficult tool to make, you can cut the teeth with a checkering file. If you don't have a checkering file, no problem. Just cut teeth with the best spacing you can, it won't look pretty, but it will work.
For one stock, I wouldn't even bother heat treating.
If you enjoy building tools, go for it!

But if you're inexperienced enough to be unsure if you're doing it right or not, I would just plunk down the cash to get the right tool. For just chasing, you only need a handle and a fine cutter.
You can chase old checkering with a curved triangular file, but I have never found that to work well for me.
