Sinclair Power Center

Has anyone tried the Sinclair Power Center? How does it work for Neck turning? Is it worth the $400+ price tag?

I have not tried any power center yet. For that kind of money I am really leaning toward a mini lathe. I realize they have there limitations also but if nothing else, the ability to change speeds for different jobs is huge.

I have used their power center for the past 4 years and it has produced very consistent turned necks when used in conjunction with the K&M NT. One thing that I learned during this time period is that the power center worked better when I had it FACING me rather than facing to the right....seems I can control the cut much better in this position.

I have a Giruad Tri-way and K&M pocket uniformer, it would be nice to have a power source other than a power drill. How is the run out? Is 200RPM fast enough? $409 is sorta steep for a low-RPM motor. Seems like you could buy a cheap drill from harbour freight, upgrade the bearings and construct an enclosure for far less money.
