Sinclair Bench rests

I have one without windage adjustment and absolutely love it.Make sure to get a edgewood front bag. This is a much better rest than a caldwell in my opinion.

Yes the windage tops are worth the extra cost they allow you to position your cross hairs on target without applying excessive hand torque to your grip. I found that my groups shrank and I shot much more consistently after I learned to let the rifle ride the bags and the windage adjustment feather allows you do just that. Without it I always found myself spending far too much time trying to get comfortable and was always repositioning. Proper bag fit both front and rear are critical to getting the most out of you rest. Let the good folks at Sinclair help you with your choice based on your needs, I'm glad I did.

Sinclair rest are top notch and at a fair price to boot. Yes, by all means get the windage top. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the advise so far guys, I think I'm going with a windage top. How about the All purpose vs the strait bench rest? Is one more stable then the other? I shoot everything from an A5 to a small sporter weight stocks so I'm leaning toward the all purpose. The all purpose has a wider range of adjustability for different stock types.

The all purpose might be the way to go for your intended usage. If you were shooting three inch forearms exclusively I'd suggest the benchrest.

Danny,

I don't compete but still require a fair amount of precision. I have a GAP built 6.5x47 on a Surgeon action with an A5 stock and want to see what it can do out to 1200 yds. I got tired of stacking sand bags and having them fall over everytime I shoot. I'm thinking if I get a real rest I'll actually see what the rifle is capable of. Most of my shooting is with this A5 or the varmint synthetic type stocks. Its just that I also shoot AR-10's and sight in the occasional deer rifle. Do you think I would see a difference in accuracy using my A5 stock with the all purpose or standard benchrest?

I think the all purpose is the way to go since the side plates are more vertical. The bench rest bags allow more stock wobble on anything other than a true, flat, three inch fore end.
Don't skimp on a rear bag, get a good one that will compliment your front rest set-up. I guarantee you'll see a difference over shooting off sand bags or a bi-pod. Rest setup is critical, take your time and make sure everything is aligned and the rifle tracks the way it's supposed to. Looking through the scope as you slide the rifle back and forth it should move perfectly verticle, if not play with your set up till it does.

Sisu: Yes, also to the windage top, and I do prefer the 'all purpose', since it's used with forend widths from the narrow Ruger #1, approx. 1 3/4'), Hunter BR at 2 1/4', and the full width 3' benchrest McMillan 'Edge'. Upgraded a year ago when Sinclair first came out with the new design, and really like the adjustable forend stop, old design was not), the attached ratchet handled side plate screws, and of course, the windage top. All of the above refers to the 'Sinclair Generation 11 All-Purpose Windage Rest', # 04-2750, right-handed. I spray the front bag with silicon, and a smooth forend slides like it's on roller bearings.;)
