Front Rest Upgrade

I have one of the Caldwell bench rests that is the slingshot type with cast iron base and windage top. Short story is I don't have confidence in the windage top. Is there another top or top/base combination that will work on this rest? I don't have a need for the windage feature at all. Thanks for any guidance.

Get a Shadetree Engineering top. Be sure to tell Butch that you have a Caldwell rest so he sends you one with the correct stem.

Stationary rest tops are not difficult to make if you have the tools.

I have seen many go very reasonable on ebay. Hart and Sinclair make them and most any top can be modified to fit your Caldwell. Your top could be pinned to make it stationary as well. Just drill and tap for two set screws.

If you are not equipped to do it I would do it for free if you pay shipping. However you should be able to find someone closer to do that and save the shipping and wait time. The post office has not done well under Obama but that's another story.
