Silicone in a barrel?

I am thinking of putting some black silicone in some holes that were left by barrel sights in a barrel of mine...? Anyone feel the need to tell me this is a stupid idea? I'm thinking of doing it because I dint want the hole to fill up with junk and if need be down the road I should be able to get the silicone out of the hole fairly easily. The threads in the hole are stripped for those wondering why I'm not putting a flush screw in the hole.

Am I missing something here...

... when the barrel heats up and the wax melts, what happens then??

.

Drill the holes oversize, paint a new primer to match the bluing, install with super-glue......when you want it back out....smack it with a hammer.....

I think it's best to retap and install flat screws back in.That way it's ready if you want to put the sights back on
