I agree the AR 10 is just to heavy for me to tote around to deer and hog hunt just looking for great terminal power to 200 yards.
I have a 7.62x40wt. I may not find anything a lot better. A 30BRX in the 15 platform would be one of my choices along with the 6.5 BRX
You'll be hard pressed to find any cartridges that fit through the AR-15 magazine with a .473 boltface that provide more stopping power than those already used in the AR-15.
6.5 Grendel is just about he best all-arounder for the -15 platform, with the HAGAR, 6.8SPC, or the .458 SOCOM, or .50 BEOWULF to complete the stopping power at 200y package.
Magazine is mostly restricted to 2.260" COL unless you cut the mag and or mag well.
Take another look at the DPMS GII. lighter weight than the AR-10 and back to a 2.800" magazine with a .473" bolt face.
