Sightron SIII reticles

My passion is shooting small targets at long ranges like clay birds at 1,000yds. I'm looking at getting a Sightron SIII either 6-24 or 8-32 (2nd focal plane) and I'd like to go with a mil-dot reticle but I've read reports from other shooters that the Sightron mil-dot is very coarse. In other words, it would completely cover a clay bird at 1k making accurate aiming impossible. They also market a mil or moa "hash mark" reticle that may or may not be finer. Can anyone help me out with just how much territory these wires will cover at various ranges?

me and buddys went with new moa-2 RETICLES. everyone love it and we now have them on 10 guns. we only shoot out to a mile and they work great. we akk went with 6x24s and never looked back. great scopes for the money and I just took mine out to 1820yds but need 30moa rail to go on out!

fourpower What caliber are you shooting that requires the 30MOA base? I'm planning on trying a mile with a .300 RUM and have wondered if it is easier to get more MOA in the base. Thanks Bill
