Sightron Second hand sales

Ok guys,
Why is there a barely used Sightron for sale everyday now on this forum?
I just bought 3 from different people 1- 10x50 and 2- 8x32's.

Did I miss something? I searched and read every tidbit on these scopes I could find before I made the decision to buy. Everyone seemed to be happy according to what all the reviews were saying. Now they're for sale every day. What's up?

I like the ones I have bought in the last month. I guess I can adapt to the quirks better than some.

Good Shooting
Brian

PS,I am NOT starting the "war" on who sells what for how much. So please DON"T reply on "that" topic here.

I own 4 SIII's and like them. Some guys here have the coin to try new stuff as it comes out and don't sweat it if they loose a few $$ in flipping it. So they like their nightforce better - I might too if I could afford NF.

I can't, and SIII is a good fit for me. If SIII isn't a good fit for the folks turning them loose then they have more critical needs or powers of discernment than I do. Doesn't mean the scopes aren't a great value for the $$$.

I agree, people wanting to try something new then change their mind for reasons unknown till tried.
I'd like to pick up another used SIII for 100 or so less than new. They fit the ticket for me.
Jim

I understand that the "premier" scopes are all that, but many of us can't afford "all that" for every rifle we own and still afford to shoot on a regular basis. I think that the better and more to the point review of the Sightron, Vortex, etc in these price ranges are "What do you give up vs the best in class". Some of us would kill for a great optic that allowed us the opportunity to improve our shooting abilities and possibly compete at local competitions as a hobby and not treat these events as "life or death". There is, as in all sports, different levels of needs and satisfaction. Everyone can appreciate the power, performance and sleek lines of a finely crafted product, but in the end, there maybe other outside influences, that make ones ability to enjoy the finest, a pipe dream. I unfortunately am a shooter like that.
Anyone that expects something that costs half as much had better be prepared for less performance, as a rule. The difference in perceived performance may be less to the less experienced of us and that is really all we need, at least for now. Who knows, maybe somewhere in the future, we too can justify a USO or S&B for our pet rifles ;)

Mike, you don't need a $1500 scope to compete. They are nice, but not necessary. To me, all competition shooting is fun. I know that some try to make it more than it is, but pay no mind to them and go have fun.
In fact, if you live near, come to a match. You can shoot my rigs and draw your own conclusions on glass.
Seems to me that there have been as many NF's and Luepy's on the board.

Folks here's my opion for what it worth and it sure as hell won't help me pay for any of my new scopes. I guess I'm fairly lucky as I can at this time in my life afford to purchase a couple of NigthForce scopes if I so choose to but am hunble enough to remember there were times when I certainly could not. I instead own three SIII and have a forth ordered that should be here anyday. Two 8-32's, a recently purchased 10-50 with fine x-hairs and second 10-50 dot ordered. The only NF that I've shot very much belongs to my brother-in-laws, it's a 10-42x56 BR model and I've spent several hours behind that scope in numerios dog towns. Yes it a good scope but best suited in my view for shooting known distances that just might be why it's called a BR model. I personally prefer the convience of using the side focus on my SIII 8-32's when shooting a lot of varying distances. I prefer not having to reaching out to twist a objective bell like found on a NF-BR model. So in some cases it not always just money, I know that convience played a big part of my decision to purchase the SIII's. I gota omit that the fact that I was able to purchase three SIII for about the cost of two of the NF-BR's did appeal to my practical side and I honestly don't see that great of difference in the scopes but then I not competing in 600 or 1000yd benchrest or the "f" class game. Enjoy what you got, I consider myself blessed to have so many good products to choose from. Someday I may just break down and buy myself one S&B before they plant my sorry ole butt in the ground.

Regards
RJ

That sounds pretty wise to me.

I actually like side focus and 1/4" clicks, but then a guy has to buy the NXS for a NF and that is even more a jump in price than the BR model. The "cool factor" just isn't cost effective for me concerning scopes, rifles maybe is that a double standard?

Thanks for the opinion RJ. I appreciate it. I have been waiting to purchase a 10X50 SIII. I have a 8X32 SIII on my BR and really like it so I was set to purchase a 6.5X20 SIII for my new 20VT. I needed to save a few bucks so I bought a SII Big Sky with side focus. I feel it is every bit as nice as my SIII and a few hundred cheaper. Once again, just my opinion. Thanks again.

A few years back I bought an 8-32 SIII and used it for a month or so. Don't know what they're like now but at the time, the side parallax adjustment needed a pipe wrench to move it. Basically it didn't fit my mission like I thought it would so I sold it. From my perspective, it all boils down to usage and budget.

I got one just like you but I called them and they had me send it to them free shipping and they had it back to me in 9 days and it works like a champ.

I got a Sightron S-Tac 4-20 x 50 MOA2 scope for my 270WSM. I liked it so well that I just ordered another one just like it for my 243Win.
I also purchased the STAC 4-20. Found its quality and precision in tracking and returning to zero is among the very best. The MOA reticle is exactly precise to the minute when making wind adjustments. Clear and solid turret functioning. Have not found a single thing wrong with this scope. Well, ok, I guess if I had to, it would be the pop up magnification lever. The edges are a bit sharp(pointed). If that's a complaint it would be the only one I have. I simply do not use it anyway. Never had that on a scope to feel I need to use it. I'd highly recommend this model scope.

Mine has a miss then spits and sputters till I changed the starter and plugs, used premium diesel now the turbo works great

Sightron is a good scope and I have several of them, along with NF and others.

Just a lot of them out there and as a less expensive scope they get sold when somebody upgrades.

I've been considering a used s3 , but have not yet bought one , how is the eye relief on these compared to NF and Leopuld? I've eard the glass is great but the eye relief is less than desirable , any advice appreciated

My NF scopes have about 3" of eye relief. My sightron has closer to 4. --Jerry
