Sightron S6 vs NF Comp

My first scopes for 600/1000 yard BR were NF BR scopes and now they are all NF Competition.
My 22LR bench rest scope is a Sightron S3 10-50 and I will say it is, for me at least, ideal for that application. I never looked through a March that made me want one. Now, with the current pricing, that is even more so. Another reason I never bought March was, until now, there is no USA repair center. I say until now because I saw a post here a while back stating they were opening one somewhere in Texas within the next few months.

How does the reticle in S-6 work in bad mirage? I need to be able to bracket the black when it is real bad.

The MOA-BD reticle is set up with hash marks. I had one session with fairly heavy mirage at 600 yards to try to figure out the values of the hash marks for bracketing (instructions for values come with the scope). I will reserve judgement until the scope is tested in heavy mirage at 1000 before making a statement of whether it works as well as my March scopes. I was testing a 8-80 March, NF Competition (DDR reticle) and the S-6 that day for clarity. For my eyes, the S-6 was every bit as good as the March, and better than the NF. Cheers

How does the reticle in S-6 work in bad mirage? I need to be able to bracket the black when it is real bad.

I’ve shot 2 600 yd matches with one. One had a fair amount of mirage and the scope/target was clearer than I expected. I have the MOA-bd reticle. I wasn’t too sure how I’d like the extra target dots. As it turns out I did like them and was able to use the to help bracket the target. The main thing I don’t like is there is not a crossed hash mark at 1 MOA. With mirage the end of the single cross hair fades into the target. I was able to use the target dots at 1/2 MOA and the 2 MOA hash mark’s adequately. The addition of the 1moa hash marks would be an improvement IMO. If I had my choice, the center TD would be smaller and there would be a cross hash ant 1 MOA.
Overall I’m very happy with the scope and plan to run 2 of them next season.
