Sightron 8x32 with mil dot

Pro cons on the mil dot

I have a MOA2 and for my use. I don't like the dot for BR. works ok for F class. Looking for
Something more like a duplex and the mil dot kinda reminds me of it LOL

I don’t have a answer to your question. But I was going to ask you how you like that 8x32 scope otherwise. Does the 32 power work ok for 200 to 500 yard paper group shooting alright? I can’t decide if a 6x24 would be best, or to step up to the 8x32. Thanks.

Sightron makes the 8-32x56 SIII with both a narrow and wide duplex reticle, although neither they nor the mildot would be my reticle of choice for F-Class competition. My personal preference for that would be the 0.125 MOA dot.

Thanks for your input Ned.
I did see that they offered the duplex I just found a lot better deal on the mil dot. The small dot was my 2nd choice not sure how much smaller it is than the Moa2 dot which for me is way to big for the Br part of my shooting. I know there is no perfect for both just looking for might be better than what I have
Thanks

As far as the size of the dot, a lot will depend on YOUR eyes. I would agree that a quater minute dot is much too large for some shooting disciplines.

FWIW - I recently purchased a fixed 36X IOR Valdada BR scope for a new F-TR rifle. It has a fine crosshair reticle with a floating 0.125 MOA dot. By comparison, the dot on a Nightforce Competition 15-55x52 scope with CTR-2 reticle set at ~36X subtends approximately 0.106 MOA, and the dot on a Nightforce NXS 12-42x56 scope with NP-2DD reticle set at ~36X subtends approximately 0.117 MOA. My eyes can tell the difference; I've always felt the dots on those two scopes (both of which I have) are just a hair too small, the Competition obviously being the worse of the two. The Valdada [true] 0.125 MOA dot is absolutely perfect for my eyes...not too big, not too small...just right (I'm sure Goldilocks would have approved LOL). Whether the Sightron 0.125 MOA dot would work well for you in BR, only your eyes can tell. But it might be worth looking through one if you get a chance. I have a couple scopes with mildot reticles and for competition shooting, I don't personally care for them.

The NXS MOAR-T reticle has a small crosshair. I really like it for my F-Class rig

I have to use 1.25 reader glasses to help see writing on this I-Pad clearly.
I was wandering if you think I would be okay with seeing the moar-t reticle at 22x with my bare eyes?
Thanks, Mark.

I have got to look at the NXS with the regular moar before and it was no problem.

To be honest I don’t know how you eyes see. The fact that you only need readers probably means you wouldn’t have an issue.

Let me explain my situation. I have been wearing progressive glasses since I was 45. I am now virtually 70. But for shooting my match sights, peep and globe, I found out that having a different focus for varying head positions caused a big error in what I was shooting. So I had a right lens made for a backup pair of glasses that was my distance prescription + .75 dioptors. This fixed my right eye at rest to about 50 inches. And that was in all head positions. My groups shrunk by 30%. I then reasoned that if I used these glasses with a scope it would fix my parallax issues. Sure enough it did.

But for this to work you need to focus your scope correctly. First you focus the reticle by adjusting the eyepiece focus looking at a clear sky. Then look away for a few seconds then back into the eyepiece. If the reticle is slightly blurry the second you look at it it is not fully in focus. Adjust one way a little and try again. If it got worse then go the other direction.

I have found that my 2 Nightforce scopes are really good about having a crisp reticle when it is focused. My 2 Sightron are next. I just got a Vortex Golden Eagle but at first glance I can get it focused really well but have not looked through it at distance to see how effective it is. But personally I like a thin reticle. It let you focus on the target and not be distracted by the crosshairs and numbers but a quick shift of mental focus they pop right up.

I know this is a long answer but didn’t want to gloss over a trit answer to you. Only looking through one could really answer your question

Thanks David for talking time to give that great answer!
This will give me some great help as my eyes worsen, because I’m only a decade or so behind you.
I know my favorite reticle now is a Varmint Hunters with a very fine line. So I think I would really like the moar-t for finer aim points.
Thanks again, Mark.

I have the 832x56 moa2 , I can see most 6 mm bullet holes at 500 yards 600 is a bit tougher "if I were to repurchase I believe a fine cross hair 1050x60 with.125 adjustments would be my choice.
