I finally got to take my sightron 8-32 out this morning for it maiden voyage. The glass is nice the dot is a little to big for my taste and my side parallax knob doesnt feel quite right. I bought this scope second hand on here and i think i know why i got such a good deal on it. Maybe i am wrong but the side parallax adjustment just dont seem right compared to anything else i have ever had. I was hoping someone could share there own experience on this. My side focus was very touchy almost jerky, if that makes any since. I was shooting at 200 yards and there was one very very small spot were the parallax was OK. One little movement either way and it was totally blurry!! I meant bad blurry!!!! The hoe adjustment range just wasnt smooth! I tried to call sightron a bit ago but after 30min on hold i hung up. I will try again later in the day. Id like to hear from some of you other fellas that have this scope or even the 10x50. I have been saving my pennies to buy one from Larry but i hope my experience isn't the norm for this scope. Thanks Lee

Yes Lee, the parallax adjustment window seems to be small on my 8-32 as well. As for the knobs being stiff, I just figured the scope is new and will break in, but maybe not. I try to adapt to my equipment as I get it, but didn't care for the large dot either. I had it replaced to fine crosshair. Now they have a better selection of reticles. I am thinking about picking up another, probably a 8-32, unless guys are reporting the ability to see bullet holes at 600 yards with the 10-50 then I might consider that one. I would assume the optics are good enough to do that.

Who did you have do the work as far as replacing the retical? Does sightron have a smaller dot offered now? Thanks man! Lee

I think the small margin for error with parallax adjustment is due to the high magnification and is actually a good thing. If it is clear, then there is not much parallax and then you can fine adjust from there.

If the parallax is correct when it's in focus then the tight focus window is a benefit. If you want a larger focus window dial down the power a bit though this will allow a bit of parallax error to creep in.

For a field varmint gun the 1/4" dot won't get lost the way a 1/8 dot can. I have 2 SIIII's with the 1/4" dot and two with the 1/8" dot and each is well suited to the purpose of the gun they are mounted on.

I'd say give yourself a chance to get used to it before you make a final judgement.

I had Bill Ackerman do the conversion, it was about a hundred.
Sightron now has fine crosshair, 1/8" dot and Mil-dot as well as the standard 1/4" dot.

good points fellas on the parallax!! I apreciate that!! Lee

I pay 100 for a 16th dot. wonder if it is possible? March offers it! Ill have to do some checking! Lee

A year or so ago I bought a stainless Sightron SII 6-24 on ebay. The paralax settings didn't agree with the true distance and the focus. Called Sightron, explained how I determined what was wrong and the guy said, "Send it in!"

Got the scope back promptly, paralax adjustment is great!

Put the scope on my Savage PTA and Shilen 243 win 1-8 barrel and am now practicing for 600 and 1000 bench rest. All accuracy problems are NOT the scope, if you know what I mean!

I just talked with Bill And he can not change the reticle in a variable sightron. Something about cubed etched glass. Bummer!!

Lee If Bill told you he can't change the reticle that really confuses me!

Here is a view through my Variable power Sightron 8-32x56 SIII after I sent it to Bill Ackerman. The reticle was previously a 1/4" Dot. The photo is of the sight in of my new .284 Win barrel.

that is strange. I wonder why he said he cant do it? Maybe he just doesnt want to do any more of them?? Lee

I am pretty sure! I just sent him an e-mail explaining what i wanted done, and he wrote back that he doesnt do them because of the etched glass, or something along those lines? Lee
