Sightron 10x50x60 MOA 2 reticle

Have thought about buying and trying one for long range varmint hunting, ( Prairie dogs, and Groundhogs), and was concerned about the center dot covering targets at extended ranges 600 to 1000 yards.
Was wondering if anyone had one, and uses it at these longer ranges.
I did notice that Sightron has a custom shop, so I could have the reticle installed without the enter dot. Any thought's?

I think you can get a fine crosshair might be better

I also noticed that and thought about it just as you are. Didn't realize there was a custom shop but sounds like a good idea. Let us know if you would how it turns out.

Your right, a fine cross hair would work better, I really like the 1 moa lines for windage, so I could just hold for wind, instead of dialing in.

The dot in the middle is pretty dang small. For over 600 yards you could always use the next hash mark below the dot--they are really fine. Adjustments are dead nuts--at least in mine. Do consider that it is a big, heavy scope.

I own 3 older 8x32x44 Burris Signature scopes with the peep plex reticle and they have spoiled me in terms of being able to keep my eye on the entire target yet center it in the crosshairs. I bought my first one from a retiring competition shooter over at Benchrest Central that said it was the best target scope he had ever owned. I trusted his word and am glad I did.
My dream reticle would be a peep plex with hash marks going up to determine distance and small peep holes for both windage and elevation going from side to side and down with very fine outer crosshairs. JMHO

I compete in F class out to 1000yds and use the LRMOA in 10-50 scopes.

Most of the time, I have my mag around 32X... no problem seeing and keeping the dot inside the 5" circle (smaller then circle) at 1000yds.

I would guess at this mag, it covers around 3.5".

Works very well for field shooting as well and have used it beyond 1 mile on targets.

I should have looked at the specs on the reticle, I could have answered my own question. Being a second focal plane, at 1000 yards at 50 power would make the center dot, a bit smaller than 1 1/4", and 2.5" on 24 power. On heavy mirage days, at lower magnifications, the center dot may be too big for prairie dogs at longer ranges, or even young groundhogs. I might try to contact them this week and see what they would charge for the reticle without the center dot.
