Sightron 10-50x60mm SVSS ED MOA-H Review

With the backorder taking so long on the Trijicon Accupower scope I ordered,my second choice scope was the Sightron SVSS ED. Your prompting me to follow up on the order. If no news on the restock, I'm looking at a cancelled Trijicon and ordering the New 34mm SVSS ED. Thanks for the review. Looks like a solid choice.

No way I'd pay that amount of money for the Sightron SVSS with those turrets and that horrendous zero stop. Especially not with the Trijicon option out there. Stick with your plan. You'll save money and get a better scope. I'd put a heavy wager that the Sightron ED Japanese glass is the same exact glass that's in the Trijicon Accupower line. Only a couple high end sporting optic glass manufacturers in Japan.

Trijicon has better turrets ("tooless" removal), better reticle, better zero stop, dual red/green illumination, weighs less, comes with top of the line Tenebraex scope caps, costs about $600 less, and will make you a cup of coffee in the morning ;)

The Trijis are in stock everywhere. Absolutely no reason to be on backorder. Dont know who you're dealing with, but sounds like changing vendors might be a real good idea.

Here are links to the Trijicon 5-50x56 in stock all over the place.

I can get the SVSS for 1406.00 my cost. The Trijicon is over 1500.00. Hard to convince me the Sightrons aren't good scopes. I own several. Cost means alot when both are fantastic scopes but one is 150.00 less money. If I can't get the Trijicon at dealer cost, I won't buy it. Doesn't look like it's gonna be stocked anytime soon. Getting down to crunch time on getting one.

Yeah I suppose for $1400 the Sightron looks a little more appetizing. Not saying the Sightron isnt a "good" scope, just saying they definitely missed the mark, once again, on design features. Dont know why or how they cant keep up with the pack on features. It's almost as if they dont pay any attention to the great things other manufacturers are doing with their optics. Either way, let us know what you decide.

I really like Vortex scopes. I feel like they get the mechanicals and features really right but they don't have the glass in them that other scopes do.

I'm currently opposed to buying S&B, March, Kahles, any of the big buck stuff. That may change as I continue down this rabbit hole though

Agreed. They are excellent feature wise but reliability and glass falls short. I imagine outstanding LR hunting scopes.

Sorry that price was for the IR model. The non- IR is 1283.00. Quite a bit less. Plus there's one in stock. Two pluses.

27001 is the one im looking at. Actually 246709 is the SKU. The 27001 I'd the manufacturers model number. It's the non illuminated model. Haven't decided 100% if I want the IR or not. The IR only adds around 200.00. Looks like the 27011 has the zero stop and the 27001 does not. Not real concerned about the zero stop as I can make a stop for my elevation turret.

It looks like that is the non-ED glass model. I'd be curious how that one compares to mine, because it does look like you save about 400 bucks going with that one.

The ED glass models are 27008 (1/10 dot) and 27011 (MOA-H)

BTW, I think this is a poor naming decision by Sightron. Normal folks will be very confused. Sightron should have introduced a new name above the SVSS in the product stack for the improved ED-glass scope so that it is perfectly clear which is which. I bet a ton of folks buy the non-ED glass version thinking that they are getting the "top-end" one.

Your right. I didn't notice that it WASN'T the ED glass. Assumed it was since it was the 34mm SVSS model scope. Just realized it's a new for 2019 model scope. I will not get the standard model. I will look into the ED model.

Evan, you’re exactly right. The Sightron 10-50 nomenclature is confusing. I have one of the SVSSED’s and love it—- extremely clear and rock solid. BUT if you don’t get the SVSSED and go down a level, you have a nice scope for the $$, but nothing special. When I saw the $1400ish price in this thread, I knew that we were talking apples to oranges, or somebody got a helluva deal. Good catch!
