sight base ?

I built a starter rifle to shoot in the high power class and am having trouble figuring out which height I need for the front sight base. I have a .490 rear base and Redfield International sights, with a .275 front base now. I need to know what to get to shoot 200, 600 and 1000yds.

Thanks

stuff,
Rear base formula:
Measure the centerline of the bore to the centerline of the front sight - subtract .650" - the measurement is the rear base height.

If you plan on shooting reduced course of fire,100yds, make sure you have 3-5minutes of down elevation adjustment in your rear sight before it bottoms out.
Remember - Lights up sights up!!!!!! Lights down sight down!!!!

Dan:
That works for our sights-- not too sure for others.

In absolute terms, the front C/L needs to be .100 to .125 below the
C/L of the rear with the rear off the bottom of it's travel 3 to 6 minutes for ir all to work, reguardless of the make.

Alan,
Thanks for the clarification.

I haven't turned the knobs on a Redfield or RPA sight in well over 10-15yrs - its WTC #1's & #2's ONLY for me!!!!!!!!!
