Sight base screws

Could I get some help with a couple questions @ sights?
I have a 52B with a redfield international on the rear and some sort of globe in front . I bottomed out the rear at 100yds. At 100 yds I’m 13 inches above point of aim. My thinking is I need a taller base for my front. Correct? I can’t go down on the rear.

Next question please.

I have a number of front bases but no screws for the tallest base. The screws I have are proper but the longest are the same length as the base height. Can anyone tell me how to Id the screws so I can get the proper length screws . I think they are probably standard 6-48 size? Not sure ? I thought I would order a couple sizes from Brownels to figure it out but there must be a better way. Not an advanced technology question but I want to get back to shooting sling ,prone .
Thank you for your help.

My thinking is I need a taller base for my front.

The way I always remember it is:
Rear sight: move it the way you want the impact to go. I.E. raise it to make the gun shoot higher
Front sight: just the opposite. So if you want the gun to shoot lower, raise it.

To determine how much, you can always make a simple drawing showing the distance between your sights and the target. Start plugging in current heights. You can calculate the amount needed. Probably an app for it somewhere.

For knowing which screws, something I bought many moons ago was a screw checker, you can even use it to shorten screws (smaller sizes). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006NFUJW/?tag=accuratescom-20

I can only find the sizes I want at Brownells, glad some hardware stores carry a supply. I just went through this exercise (again) recently for some scope bases that had unusual 8-40 screws.

Mikegalz thanks wish I had that option. Maybe tractor supply? TY

Jepp2 I just ordered the screw checker. Great advice TY

If you have one of the paper Brownells catalog there is a table in the metallic sight section that lets you select the distance between the sights and the effect of changing the sight height in .001"* increments on elevation on the target at various distances.

* I think it is in .001's"

Just the opposite. Raise the rear site if it's shooting low.....Lower the front to do the same.
