Front sight screws

I hope someone here can help, I took the iron sights off my M70 hunting rifle
Now I have to get the plug screws to fill those holes. Apparently they are a different thread than the screws for the rear sight. So my question is does anyone know the proper thread for these screws? I tried Brownells to no avail. It’s a 1975 manufactured rifle
Any help would be appreciated

They should be 6-48 . Unless someone redrilled it .

Is that the same size as the rear sight? I thought it would have been

I have used black epoxy to fill unused holes in the past. It keeps them from collecting junk and can be done so they are less noticable than plug screws. Easy to drill out in the future if needed.

I use black RTV silicone the same way
