sierra new TMK bullets

Anyone tried these yet, 69 gr.....I picked up a box of them and from
what I see there are as accurate as their other standard 69 gr MK..
They do have a bit of a different shape to them..Hard to explain what
I mean..You almost have to see for yourself..Probably a little more
testing I will find a better load for them..Maybe I am not pushing them
fast enough..Using the same charge as with the other standard 69 gr..
And,or maybe a different powder all together..???

I have shot the 69gr MK for years over varget and have always been happy with the accuracy I get out of my bull barrel AR. Per Sierra, I backed off that load and worked back up to it with the TMK. At 100 yds the TMK held a small but measurable advantage in my rifle with the same load. In mag length loading, you should back down and work back up because the seating depth of the TMK is so much deeper in the case. I will be using the TMK for all my longer range shooting now to take advantage of the better BC, less wind call.

These new bullets are for real. I have a Savage model 12 in .22-250 that loves these things. I am running 37.5gr of R17 in Winchester cases for a velocity of 3440 fps. I had to up my charge a half grain to get these bullets to tune back into shooting in the .2's like the original 69's were. My 12-year-old nephew is using this rifle in our local monthly prairie dog match and his scores have gone up considerably with him shooting a couple 10's in a row now. According to my ballistics app these new bullets are providing about 3 inches less wind drift at 500 meters and I believe it.

I've tested 450 rounds of TMKs, all in 5 shot groups. They're OK, some shooting MOAs in the 3s, some 4s, and most around .7 MOA plus or minus a little bit and nearly every group sub 1 MOA. So it's unfair to call them "bad".

However, the Sierra 69gr Moly coated bullets always do better in my Howa 1500 1:9 twist barrel at 100 yards. The Moly bullets consistently shoot better than the TMKs. I have recorded 690 rounds of the Moly bullets, all in 5 shot groups, and the fully developed load recipe always shoots sub 1/2 MOA.

I've got 50 rounds of TMK left from the 500 round box and I will most likely let them sit there. I won't be buying any more.

Been doing some range testing with these TMK's,,69 gr with CFE223 powder..
I ike them a lot.. been getting some 10 shot groups averging around 1 1/4
inch at 300 yards..I dont think the wind bothers them as much as the regular
69 gr smk's..and it was pretty windy yesterday when i shot that group..
Will I buy another box of 500 ? I probably will...
