Buy a box of each and give them a try in your rifle, a calculator is as useless as moose teat in terms of seeing real performance in you rifle.Hornady publishes a BC for their 68 gr BTHP Match as .355
Sierra gives BC's for their 69 gr TMK as .375 @ 2700 fps and above .365 between 2700 & 1950 fps .335 between 1950 & 1700 fps .305 @ 1700 fps and below
Does anyone have real world comparisons for these two bullets? Are they really that close?
MV of 2,650 fps. Mostly looking for wind deflection at 200 and 300 yards.
Bonus question; similar powder charge for the two bullets?
Thanks!
I have used each in my Colt AR15 A2, in my rifle in Delta configuration the Hornady averaged a very tiny better average group at 300 yards. Not enough to write home about. I ended up getting a deal on 500 of the Hornadys so I bought them, if the deal would have been on the Sierras my money would have went that way.
If you're shooting in the field with a 5.56 or 223 case capacity in my opinion the 68/69 are the best choice as the reduced time of flight and smaller trajectory arc are better in the wind and for range estimations.
