My experience tells me that I'll far more often be successful with Sierra bullets than I will be with Hornady. I have also found that Sierra bullets tend to be more consistent from lot to lot and year after year. I still shoot Hornady bullets but have many boxes that I won't bother loading after getting poor accuracy. I fire all the Sierras I purchase.

That's one Hornady bullets I have never done well with. Sierra 69 has usually done fine.

Sierras are easier to tune. Your barrel length will determine whether to use the slower or faster VV powder. Shorter length, faster powder. 24" barrels like N-140.

The 69smk is generally incredibly easy to get to shoot well.
The 68hpbt is only slightly behind.

Xterminator is an excellent powder for up to 70 grain bullets and flows like water in a thrower.
I’m confident all four powders OP listed can be made to shoot.

Is bullet length/COL an issue? Some are longer then others.

Accuracy changes from lot to lot, but all can be made to shoot accurately.

My choice, Sierra HP.

Ammoseek.com - Hornady .18 cents. Sierra .24 cents The Hornady loved IMR 3031 powder.

Am I missing something? You are getting lots of recommendations but recommendations for what? This could be all sentences as questions except this one.

What gun?

What barrel twist?

What kind of shooting will you be doing?

I use them both in my AR and bolt guns. I see no difference in them on paper. Of course they seat to different C.O.L. but they both shoot.

I have tried the 68gr in 6 different ar's and 3 bolt actions. I have only got one gun to shoot them under 1" one time. I think it was a fluke. They normally run about 1.25"-1.5" in every gun. It might just be me but the Sierras run from 3/8"-3/4" groups in about every 223 gun I own.

I am with the others that picked the 69 Matchking. Sierra has the better reputation.

That said, I have a 1:8 Bartlein that will shoot the Hornady 68 into 1/2 MOA using 23.8 TAC and a Magtech primer.

Either way, N135 would be my choice for a powder.

When I was still shooting Highpower, in active competition as well as testing, I had one fairly consistent piece of data I could count on. I got higher X-counts with Hornady bullets but I got higher SCORES with Sierra bullets. 100-0X beats 99-9X all day every day. And this was over 20+ years.
