Sierra Game Changers?

Anyone have any experience with Sierra Game Changers? Specifically 6.5’s but any caliber if used. Accuracy and on game.

I took a deer a few days ago with a 6.5mm Sie. Game Changer in my 6.5/.284 Encore handgun. I've taken over 2400 deer with my handguns, so I had a large source of comparison.
THe results were disappointing. The deer was quartering to me at 131 yds. I hit her in the right shoulder and exited behind the left shoulder in the mid body. She ran 75 yds. and dropped. Autopsy showed a center shoulder entrance. Exit was between 2 ribs. There was only 2" of internal damage. This is about the same as what I've had on the 350+ deer I've taken with Nosler ABs and way less than what I've gotten with Nosler BTs, Nosler PTs, Nosler SBs, and Sierra Game Kings.
Based on this, I see nothing offered by this new bullet that would cause me to use it. Another downside (at least in my gun) was with all the above bullets hitting 2 1/2" high at 100, the SGC was 5" high. I held on the very bottom of the deer and had a center body hit. With all the above bullets hitting the same in my gun (1:8) I see no reason to resight it it for just one (under performing) bullet.
If you want damage stick with BTs. If you want penetration stick with (regular) ABs. Nos. LRABs are too soft and lack penetration.

I HAVE DONE SOME TESTING WITH THOSE BULLETS FROM 6.5X47 6.5 WSM 6.5 CREED AND ON PAPER THEY SHOOT VERY WELL ALSO SHOOTING THE 30CAL TO IN A 300 WIN MAG 300WSM AND A 300 ULTRA MAG AND THEY SHOOT VERY WELL SO NEXT THEY GO TO THE HUNTING WORLD TO TEST THEM.

I tried the 165g in my .308

The difficulty for me was having to load these really long bullets to mag length. Could never get them shooting better than 1 MOA.

Good enough for deer hunting for sure, but I have loads with other hunting rounds that perform better so they weren’t “game changers” for me. It’s disappointing as I had high hopes for them.

Might give them a try in my ‘06

90 Grain 6mm Game Changers don't shoot well at all in my 6X45 with 1-8" twist. Can't get them to be consistent, best group is about 3/4". Tried three powders, various seating depths and various charge ranges. Good thing I only bought two boxes. The bullets are VERY long.

95 Sierra Match Kings shoot awesomely though!!

YMMV.

DONT MEAN ANYTHING BUY IT JUST CANT SEE LIKE I ONCE COULD!!!!:D:D BEEN THAT WAY FOR LONG TIME YOU'LL GET THERE ONE DAY BUT I MEAN NO HARM
I used to fill my service tickets like that when I was in the field as a service tech. It drove the girls crazy when they had to transfer it over to the bill. After they told me it was yelling, I did it just to rile them up. LOL!

Thanks for all the replys y'all.

2,400 deer?I have to ask what do you do for a living. Are you a game manager?

I used to know a couple old fellers that would take 8-10 deer each every year and a couple elk. I figured they must suck meat down with a one inch straw...

Let me just throw this in.... Down here in S. Texas , a long shot on a deer is 200 yards... Most are a hundred or even less , so shooting an expensive long range bullet makes zero difference over say a flat base gameking etc... The deer doesn't know if he got hit by a $50 box or a $13 box of bullets...So they are no game changer at 100 yards but they maybe for you guys pushing them way out there... There's literally no magic bullet....

My brother and a few clients recently went to Wyoming for a speed goat hunt back in October. They were all shooting different calibers and different bullets but one of them was shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor loaded with the new 130 Game changers and he successfully took two goats and a nice Mule deer from just over 300 yards to 734 yards. Three bullets resulted in three dead animals and he was the only hunter who had complete pass throughs on all animals with about nickel sized exit holes. I thought that showed some pretty solid and consistent bullet performance.

My 2018 Wyoming lope dropped in his tracks when hit with a 130 grainer at about 100 yards out of a 6.5-06 AI. Killed him as dead and as quickly as the Hornady 129 grain InterLocks that I've used for years. The doe right after went just about as quick. Going to use the TGKs again this fall.

Loaded round. Didn't have much time to fiddle with loads so I just copied the load I was using for the Hornady 129s which was 61 grains of IMR7828 and seated to just fit in the magazine.

The lower left is 3 shots out of my worn out long-throated rifle.

After watching numerous hunting shows on the Outdoor and Sportsman's channels, I see a fair number of animals that I feel should have dropped in their tracks after being hit but take off running after being hit. This causes me to ask if the doe you are referring to was in a state of low arousal or high arousal. It's been my limited experience that a critter which is alert and aware of your presence is less likely to drop in its tracks than is one that is totally unaware that it's about to get hammered; unless the hit is to the CNS.
