I just worked up a load with the 90 Blitzking in my 25 Creedmoor. Capable of far more speed than I’m pushing it, but super accurate groups. Can’t wait to introduce it to a coyote. Assuming it can make a mess of them?

No thanks. Went through a big deal with this at the time and have no interest in revisiting the issue. Just know that it did indeed happen.

I really like BK bullets, but not on my list of prairie dog bullets because 30+ cents a piece.

I have parted ways with Sierra and Nosler varmint bullets. I like them but can not justify their pricing when I can get vmax es to shoot as accurate. I shoot vmx now in 17HH, 20VT, 204, 22BR and 6DASHER.
Most of my shooting is now p dogs but did spend years killing sage rats.
Vmax are as explosive as any varmint bullet and with patient shopping can find them around 20cents for 17 &20 cal..
BTW...the old Speer TNT's are an overlooked economical great bullet.

I hear you. My original plan was to do Hornady V-Max. I have always heard great things. Back in the day I shot Nosler seconds with great success. I'm willing to try the Sierra however. 20 vs 30 cents does add up quickly!
Not anywhere near as bad as a 100gr NBT. Or the 115gr Berger VLD.
Accidentally grabbed the 100gr NBT that I had loaded up instead of the 90gr BlitzKing for my 257 Roberts.
At 200 yards, I put it in high frontal chest/bottom of neck. Bullet traveled the length of the spine, blew out the hips and kept going.
Coyote was split open the whole length of the back.
Devastating to the pups also.

I didn't realize that but it looks like they did. I wish I would have bought the ones that came up for sale not too long ago.
I know how you feel…. We have a shop in Montoursville PA (The Ammo Guy) that has a good selection of reloading stuff. It looks like he either buys out estates or guys getting out of reloading/shooting take their stuff to him and he sells it. Much of the shop is setup like a flea market, I’m not saying this in a bad way, I love the shop!
Anyways, what I was getting at is that I found 17 cal bullets there before and bought them up because they aren’t as common as many other calibers. They weren’t a steal but a good price and I was happy to get them.
I use same combo in my 204. I also have some reloader 10 for when I run out of 8208 but I have couple pounds still
I got some 32gr seconds for my 20VT. Shot great and 50-75 fps faster than Vmaxes with the same powder charge. Too spendy for volume shooting though.

we rely on Sierra for consistent reliable accuracy.

Mike in Oregon; Your rat arsenal almost duplicates mine, though I usually bring along one more with a bit more horsepower - like a .6BR, .243, etc. - though they don't get shot nearly as much as the .17, .20 and .223, for sure. The .20 could be the "one gun" arsenal for the rats. I like the V-Max in all the guns, shooting the 20 V-Max in my .17 (though sometimes the heavier Bergers), the 32 and 40 V-Max in my .20P's and while I used to shoot 40 V0-Max in my .223, I almost always use the 50 V-Max as a bit more accurate in my .223's as compared to the 40 V-Max. All of those bullets are exceptionally accurate in my rifles. I really like the 39 Blitz Kings in my .20P, and they are just a tad more accurate than the 40 V-Max in my rifles- but within 250-300 yards, they are at no real advantage. If we are having a "splat" contest, the 50 Varmint Grenade in the .223 is (was) king. That was until I tried the 62 ELD-VT in my .22 Nosler. There has never been a varmint bullet of any make I have ever used (even out of my .243 Win) that compares with how far various body parts fly. I'm going to do some testing with them in one of my 1-7" .223 barrels to see if they will shoot. Not sure if the reduced velocity of the .223 will have the same effect - but worth a try. The Blitz Kings always seem to disappear from the shelves in any shortages, so if your rig likes them, I'd load up on them if you catch a sale. The 500-packs are the largest they sell on those. I have tried the Ballistic Tips many times and they were just not as accurate (or more temperamental), on average, as compared to the V-Max line and the Blitz kings. I bought a ton of the Nosler Varmageddon bullets which I got on sale years ago in case of "emergencies" but still haven't tried them. One of these days....

Seriously - everybody seems to market their products as "match grade this - match grade that". At some point, we should know better than to think a $25.00 box of varmint bullets is going to do as well in most matches as a box of bullets designed as target bullets. Federal "Match" ammo and brass comes to mind... When a varmint bullet (whether Nosler, Hornady or Sierra) shoots .600 groups out of a super-accurate rifle - that means very little in respect to the "poor" quality of the bullet most times, otherwise non-custom barrels wouldn't be able to shoot them in 1/4"-3/8" groups. It is about that person not finding a good load for that particular bullet in that rifle. I have shot tons of groups over 1" when trying different powders in proven match guns using the likes of Berger, various great custom bullets, Lapua Scenars, Sierra Match Kings, etc. all good bullets - just not with that load. I guess it also comes down to what one expects from a varmint bullet. I keep doing load development until a varmint rifle is dialed in with a load that will routinely shoot 3/8" +/- in good conditions. I have had no problem getting that from all of my rifles using the V-Max, Blitz Kings and on a few rifles, the lead-free Ballistic Tips. And none of these rifles are my match rifles - just heavy-barreled varmint rigs with good barrels - half of which are A/R's. I think folks sometimes take the marketing hype a bit too seriously - and, combined with a bad load, are a bit quick to downplay the quality of the bullet. There are bullets that I just won't even buy anymore because of the "crazy" lack of uniformity - but they are different bullets from those I noted above. I'd not hesitate to give them a go!
