Sierra .277 90 Grain Varminter

I have never found any difference in accuracy between the two, I use to favor the Speer's because they came in that 650pcs value pack which was an awesome deal.

I have shot both but they are very different so they need completely different powder loads. Tnt is very accurate but only with the right powder load. What works with one ussually don't work with the other.

Sierra should put a plastic tip on the 90 grainer's and sell the hell out of them !
Probably have to call it the "Varmint Game Changer". Adding the plastic tip should get em well above the current .195 BC. I would buy em. How about jamming a #10 lead shot into the hollow point cavity? Only weighs 0.5 gr.

There was a fellow George Block that use to write for the Penna. Sportsman magazine he used a 270 with the 110 Sierra spitzer for everything from groundhogs to deer. I always enjoyed reading his articles.

When did Whitetail become "Super Deer"? The 25-20 used to kill them but obviously they morphed into something a well placed shot with adequate penetration won't kill. I owe an apology to those I've killed with the .223 I guess. JMHO...

Balance would be compromised.

In my youth, my neighbor and I did some experiments with 22lr hollow points with this very thing. We were looking for the most explosive load. It turns out, a big open cavity worked the best on soda cans refilled with water. I wouldn't go altering bullets on a centerfire, however.

I know of some old timers that use to load there 270s with the bullets inverted or backwards. I never tried it but they had great success.

The 110gr SPH is a wonderfully accurate bullet in the 6.8spc. But I can't hunt with lead anymore, so I guess it's a moot point for me.

I use Speer TNTs in 223 Rem, 6mm Rem, 250 AI, and 270 Win. They're plenty accurate, explosive, and a great price value especially if you can find their value packs (I've got a 1000 cnt of 25 cal 87s.)
